I have returned from India! We left on July 3rd and got home on Sunday. After taking a day to relax and get some rest, I went back to my normal work life ag
ain. However, the India trip is still fresh on my mind.
The trip was a lot of fun, with everyone staying in one house. With my mother's entire family all being in India together for the first time since 2006, it was a lot of fun hanging out as a family under the same roof. The first few days were dedicated to shopping, with the actual stuff happening on the first weekend. We had a Garba on Friday n
ight, a Sangeet program on Saturday night, and the actual Janoi ceremony on Sunday. Otherwise, the time was spent hanging out in Ahmedabad and just really relaxing with the family. We didn't do too much travelling outside of the area, which made it much less stressful.
In terms of some main highlighted points, it was the middle of monsoon season which meant that we got rained out a couple days and lost power a few nights. The cousins from the US got together and did a dance on Saturday night during the Sangeet program was which was really awesome. The entire family got together to play cricket on a couple days, which was really fun. There was a lot going on everyday, but it was a very enjoyable trip.

The only negative from the trip was the commute back and forth, which was delayed on both occasions. We had some ridiculous difficulties and problems on the way back, but everyone made it back in peace.
One really awesome thing that I got to do while in India was spend some time at my uncle's hospital. He's an OBGYN and runs his own hospital. Not only did I get to sit in on some consultations, but I also got to be in the OR for some procedures. He did a C-Section, a tube sterilization and pregnancy termination, as well as the removal of a breast abscess. It was unbelievable to see what those procedures were like, especially in India were the standards in hospitals are not the same as they are in the US. Still, that was an experience that I'll never forget.
With all of the fun I had spending the last couple weeks with my grandparents and family, I was still ready to come back and get back to my normal routine. However, I can't wait to get back there as soon as possible.
